Donation Information

 

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Yakima is grateful for all the support we receive from individuals, corporations or foundations!  We accept outright gifts of cash and securities, gifts-in-kind, planned gifts and offer a variety of ways for you to help us “Bring HOPE to Life,” especially for those most in need in our communities throughout Central Washington.    

 

Ways to Give

1. Donate by Phone
Call Julie Heilman, 509-853-1303, to contribute using VISA or MasterCard.

2. Donate by Mail
Mail a check or money order payable to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Yakima to:

3. Matching Gift Programs

Are you interested in possibly doubling your gift to Catholic Charities?  If your employer offers a matching gift program, contact your employer’s human resources office for the necessary forms.Simply send the completed form with your donation to the above address. 

4. Gifts of Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds

Donating gifts of appreciated assets such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds to a non-profit organization such as Catholic Charities can provide multiple tax benefits for the donor.  Please consult your accountant or financial advisor about the benefits this type of gift could provide you. As stated in our Gift Acceptance Policy, Catholic Charities will sell gifts of securities as soon as possible after the transfer of the gift.

     6. Non-Cash Gifts and Gifts of Property
Personal property donated to St. Vincent Centers or new items donated to be used for one of our benefit auctions will be used to raise funds for that particular entity and stated purpose. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Yakima may accept other non-cash gifts including but not limited to, works of art,manuscripts, literary works, and computer hardware. The Gift Acceptance Committee will review all other non-cash gifts prior to acceptance.   

     7. Gifts of Real Estate
Prior to acceptance of any gift of real property the Gift Acceptance Committee will review the gift in accordance with our Board-approved Gift Acceptance Policy and consult with legal counsel. For any complex giving situations please contact Steve Wilmes, 509-759-7780 or swilmes@ccyakima.org.

     8. Gifts of Vehicles
Donating your vehicle (car, truck, trailer, motorcycle, etc.) is a great way to support our mission. We will arrange to pick up your vehicle in any condition and at any location.  Donate your car by calling toll-free at 855-505-GIVE/855-505-4483, or click here to complete our vehicle donation form.  Our representative will arrange to pick up your vehicle at a time which is convenient for you. 

      9. Planned Gifts or Deferred Gifts
Planned Gifts are arranged during the donor’s lifetime, but the benefits do not accrue until a later time, usually after the death of the donor or his/her beneficiaries. Your planned gift provides you tax benefits while helping us meet some of our future financial needs.  We encourage you to talk with your tax advisor to discuss the planned gift which will best fit your financial situation. 


Gifts through Wills and Trusts

A gift through your estate ensures that your commitment to“Bring HOPE to Life,” especially for those most in need will continue beyond your lifetime.This type of gift will have lasting impact in our communities. 

We suggest using the following language: 

“I give and bequeath to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Yakima, 5301 Tieton Drive, Suite E, Yakima, WA 98908, the sum of _____               (or _____% of my estate) to be used for the accomplishment of its general purposes (or for a specific purpose as indicated).”

 

                        In lieu of changing your entire will or trust, a simple codicil can be used.

Beneficiary Designation 
Designating Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Yakima as a beneficiary (or an alternate beneficiary) of a life insurance policy, a deferred annuity contract, an IRA, a defined benefit plan, a 401(k) plan, a defined contribution (profit sharing) plan or other qualified plan is a wonderful way to continue your commitment to our mission well beyond your lifetime.
